Generally speaking, silver tends to oxidize naturally, especially if you don't wear the jewelry often. This gives it a weathered style that can be greatly appreciated. If, however, you prefer to keep the shine, all you have to do is lightly rub the metal with a cotton swab soaked in "mirror", before wiping it with a cotton cloth.
The jewelry can go underwater briefly without fear, but it is not recommended to leave it submerged in water.
